The one thing about obstacles is that they never go away. And why should they? They are here for a reason, real or imagined. We all have them. Some we buy. Others we borrow. Some we inherit; and some we just invite into our homes or personal spaces. Some we dig up and bring back to life. Others we grow like flowers in a garden.

Yes, you can grow your own obstacles! You plant them, water them, nurture them, and they will grow faster than anything you could possibly imagine. Before you know it, they are running around like weeds, multiplying and causing chaos.

Sometimes you pretend that they really aren’t there. I call them “Invisible By Choice Obstacles.” You go around them and avoid them for awhile, but obstacles are patient. They will wait for you.

Obstacles need change, but change will not happen until you are ready to or you are forced to make them. Quite often it is the latter that happens first! If you ignore anything long enough it will make itself seen, heard, or felt.

The first step is to acknowledge what your obstacles are and how they got here. The second step involves taking an honest look at yourself. How has your personality and communication style contributed to the way you perceive yourself and your situation? Finally, practice creating options. What choices do you have? Can you take a different path to create new solutions? Be free with your thoughts and ideas. You really do have the answers. Don’t be afraid of the questions.
